Energy Futures

In 2003, the CSIRO launched the Energy Futures Forum as a way to engage a variety of stakeholders in consideration of the future of energy for Australia.  Stakeholders included representatives such as energy suppliers, energy generators, energy distributors, major energy end-users, financiers, researchers, government and community representatives.  The Energy Futures Forum has released in its final report to the public in December 2006, titled The heat is on: the future of energy in Australia.

Activities in support of the Energy Futures Forum were the Energy Futures Citizens' Panels conducted in Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.  The final report on these panels was released to the public, titled Social uptake of alternative energy futures: final report, and written by Dr Anna Littleboy and Ms Naomi Boughen of CSIRO, Dr Simon Niemeyer of Australian National University, and Dr Kate Fisher of Southern Cross University.

Dr Kristin Alford of Bridge 8 participated in the Victorian Energy Futures Citizens Panel in May 2006.  Download her report on this panel: Review of the Energy Futures Citizens' Panel.  This report is also included in the Social uptake of alternative energy futures: final report.
